Eyes Matter

After so many years of wearing contact lenses, I've finally gotten the biggest contact lens campaign I ever engaged - Bausch + Lomb Lacelle Jewel series. Maybe you've already seen it on YouTube or Facebook, the girl with the nerdy look and her unfortunate encounter where her car broke down... That's me.

Not sure if you can recognise me but I definitely look like this when I was in high school (sometimes I wear glasses). I started wearing the normal uncoloured contact lenses since I was 11 or 12 and I was introduced to color contact lenses when I was 15 so I consider myself a contact lens expert by now lol 

Anyway, speaking about the video I starred in Bausch + Lomb Lacelle Jewel recent campaign, I actually had to learn how to drive an old mini on that day itself! It was manually operated and I've never driven a manual car since the day I took my driving license but I'm glad that I did it without killing anyone haha. It was a pretty challenging shoot and I had the chance to thank everyone on the spot for their patience and faith in me. Especially Maggie, my make up artist, who was there looking after me like a nanny. So please stay tuned to the video where I transformed from plain Jane to beautiful Jane with these Bausch + Lomb Lacelle Jewel lenses. I loved how the video turned out and the whole experience was pretty fun and enjoyable for me so you gotta check it out!

The last time I did a Bausch + Lomb Lacelle campaign was two years ago. It was a review for them when they first launched in Malaysia. This time, I got to try some of their colors which I quite liked. These new lenses are a new line extension to the current Lacelle™ and Lacelle™ colours.

The series is designed to darken and enlarge the iris in a very natural way. This is due to its unique and colourful jewel patterns which gives more depth and brilliance. Oh, and the integration of colour in the lens material which is embedded by technology will enable more comfort and is also better for your eyes.

Styling with Muji Linen

I'm a fan of the Japanese fashion & lifestyle and I can say that Muji is one of the biggest brand to represent the Japanese lifestyle from home decor to food and also fashion. I can still remember I spend almost 2 hours when I first step into a Muji store in Tokyo before they came into Malaysia. I'm so glad they have stores here now and today, I'm actually gonna share about their linen wear!

Linen itself has over 10 types in Japan. The typical types are linen, ramie, hemp, jute and many more. Linen is said to be one with the softest texture to skin hence it brings out the elegance to the appearance. The longer you wear it, the softer it gets.

Crescent White

The first thing people tell me when they saw me after I came back from my Bali + Bangkok trip is " Jane you look so dark and your skin so dull " I was under the sun almost all the time when I was in Bali, especially the day when we were in the villa playing with the flamingo float, taking pictures under direct sun. Though I did as much sun protection, using the highest spf sun block, I am officially two shades darker. The worst thing about it, I look extra dull.

I'm so glad that Estée Lauder send me their Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening series to do a review, just right in time when I need it. Including Estée Lauder Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening Milky Emulsion, Rich Moisture Creme, Intensive Hydrating Essence Mask, BB Balm Compact SPF 30/PA++ and the star - Night Finishing Treatment!

The Crescent White Full Cycle Brightening Collection protects against day time damage and repair and corrects at night. Basically their natural derived botanicals work your skin's own daily cycle to help repair and prevent the look of dark spots for fairer, brighter and more translucent skin.

The texture of the milky emulsion is unlike other milky emulsion outside the market. It absorbs really fast and also doesn't leave a sticky feeling after applying.

While in the night you will be getting the positive effect of reduced irritant that could peak in the night (which will lead to unwanted pigmentation) from the product’s anti-irritant properties; you may also use this product in the day to achieve an immediate porcelain like effect. This product also works well with different skin shades including those with darker skin.

The brush is super smooth, adds a little spa experience while using it.

As for the brightening mask, I love the hydration my skin was getting while using it! I always thought that brightening/whitening mask doesn't give as much hydration but this one changed my mind!

Best app to sell your pre-loved items!

“ I’VE NOTHING TO WEAR. “

I bet every girl has the same problem like I had but when you look into our closets, there’s tons of clothes that we can wear for the next few decades. I don’t remember when was the last time I cleaned my closet. I don’t even remember digging into my closet to reach for the old clothes I had, probably last spring where I donated all the old clothes to the orphanage. *angel crown* 

Okay, to be honest, it requires a lot of effort to sell off my pre-loved items. From selecting, packing stuff and loading my stuff and do bazaar hopping is too much of a hassle and I am horrible in bookeeping what I sold and how much I earned. Which explains why I don’t really appear at fashion bazaars. I salute to those bloggers who have the effort to do that and do it seamlessly! Like seriously. 

GOOD NEWS IS, technology now does wonders. Any concerns you have, they’ll come out with something for lazy people like me. Like ImSold! (previously known as Shopping Kaki). I bet you heard of it cuz we had a bazaar run by ImSold! at Project Space last month and the outcome was great! I sold most of my stuff!

So what was the reason for me to move my lazy butt and get around digging old clothes for this bazaar? When Daph suggested to me that all proceedings will go to PAWS (she has been talking about it all the time after she got back from her volunteering session), I thought it was a great idea.

What’s even better was that ImSold!, too, was supportive about it! So I jumped into it and agreed to sell off my pre-loved items (which, was in a bulk. Lol). 

For those who haven’t heard of PAWS – they are a non-profit animal shelter where they take in unwanted dogs and cats. They operate on a smaller scale (they only have 3 staffs working in the office) in comparison to other well-known animal shelter, and hence they really needed the support from the public at all time.

To be frank, I was slightly worried that no one would come because SS15 is really the mother of all jam. But I was glad that we achieve a pretty decent crowd! We have done a few bazaars before in Project Space, so we sort of have an idea of how the layout would be, and on top of that, the representative from ImSold! was really helpful as they were literally setting up everything for us that made it so much easier for us in settling down quickly.

Most of my items were sold and I am happy that those who bought my clothes liked them. I guess that is also because I am normal-sized so my buyers could fit what they bought. I could tell that some of them really wanted to buy Daph, but some of her clothes are too small in size. Haha. Poor them.

My booth! You can see the amount of pre-loved item I have. And yes I am guilty of over-buying lol. Quite a number of them were impulse buy tbh, and they have been sitting in the wardrobe for quite sometimes now. 

While I was manning the booth that day, I downloaded the app to find out more on what the app got to offer. The interface looks like this when you get in the app:

I like how they are divided into categories at the first page instead of showing me random items that they ‘think’ interest me. It is very organized and I like it that way. 

You can then browse and see what items that you like. While there is a price written at the corner of the box, you can have a try on your luck because you can directly talk to the seller through their in-built chat function!

From here, you can discuss with the seller on payment and delivery methods. Since you’re talking directly to the seller, there are always room for negotiations, which make it different from a lot of other shopping app.

If you’re interested selling you pre-loved items, it is relatively easy too – first step, you would need to create a profile.

After that, everything is really easy. Pick the item that you want to sell; snap a picture, fill in the requirement and your product is up in the market. Easy right?

Very easy for me to manange and I believe it would be a great help to those who need a platform to sell off their pre-loved item. It really helps especially you don’t have a big quantity to sell and is only planning to clear off your wardrobe for new clothes to come in. You don’t even need to rent a booth at bazaar, and everything can be done at your own convenience. I find it really helpful especially to those smaller businesses or even individual who don’t have their budget to start up a proper website because you literally only need to create an account and get started. All conversations are also consolidated into one place instead of separated into a few platforms.

All in all, I think if you have plans to sell your old pre-loved item, you may want to explore this app. It will be worthwhile!

Oh-My-God. 

I’m hereby to announce that Sephora is finally online in MALAYSIA! 24/7 shopping in Sephora is not a dream anymore like finally. I’m a super fan of Sephora, I could spend half a day in the Sephora store checking out the products and I’m glad that now I can buy them online! 

I remember that everyone was raving about Sephora when it opens up their very first store in Starhill. Everyone went on crazy with the things they had in Sephora. Let me reminisce my Sephora moments : Everybody wants a piece of Urban Decays NAKED palette. Especially the fi rst NAKED palette. SOLD OUT IN A BLINK OF AN EYE but I manage to grab the last piece on the shelf before they take some time to restock. Also, that happiness when I know they brought in Marc Jacobs Beauty and I spend almost an hour staring at the products thinking what to buy. I literally want to bring the whole shelf home.

Natural Eye Defining Make Up Tutorial X KATE TOKYO

It’s been awhile since the last time I did a make up tutorial. Today’s make up tutorial is all about the new collection and the must have eye product from Kate Tokyo! 

I’m always a fan of Kate Tokyo cosmetics. It’s one of the brands that I follow since young and I’m still using them until today. I still remember my first few eye shadow palettes are from Kate Tokyo. Or I should say I buy most of Kate Tokyo brown eyeshadow palettes lol. I remember back then there’s a collection that is not available in Malaysia and I have to buy it from Thailand.

These new colours are released in conjuncture of their AW series, and I personally think that the colours are very natural and earthy. Goes well with any outfit!

In my video, you will realize that there is a certain way where I apply the eyeshadow. The 5 different shades in 1 palette have its own function. The different combination of shade applied to both my upper eyelid and my lower eyelid, with a combination bright, dark and medium shade applied to my lower eyelid will create the vertically enlarged eye makeup. I am very pleased with the result.

KATE DOUBLE EYELID REMAKE LINER 

One of the most interesting products from KATE in their AW collection release that enable you to emphasize the double eyelids and make your eyes look wider. The brown is super pale so it’s very natural. You can also use is as inner liner.
